一、类型确认

Having studied a broad range of A Level subjects, I feel I have acquired a wide variety of skills: from Mathematics and Physics I have learnt the art of questioning the world around us and developing a keen sense of intellectual curiosity; from English Literature and General Studies I have understood the importance of expressing myself clearly and concisely through words; whilst from ICT I have developed a sound understanding of an area which is playing an increasingly important role in society

My role as Deputy Head Boy has helped me gain a sense of responsibility and maturity; tasks such as organising large numbers of people, arranging important school events and making speeches to large audiences have helped me develop strong personal and communication skills. 法国留学生活费清单

一、住宿

学生的住宿一般是由Crous (Centre régional des ?uvres universitaires et scolaires)安排的，这是覆盖法国高校的服务中心，专门提供住宿和餐饮的服务，可以直接通过线上申请。

三、出行

大家以留学生的身份在法国读书，生活的时间周期是一年来算的，所以大家可以办理交通出行的年票，这样会划算得多，一年最多准备2500元，平均一个月250元左右就能够满足出行的需求。

四、购物

平时还会有买买买的需求，需要大家确认自己的基础和附加的开销，一般日用品的采购价格不会很贵，等到商场有折扣的时候一起囤货会更划算，基础月开销在300-500元之间。

而衣服的购买则会有比较大的弹性，因为冬天和夏天衣服的单价会有不同，所以大家预算要平均做，这样没花完的钱可以存下来留在之后用，大概要准备1000元左右。

五、社交

一、参加活动

四、兼职打工

还可以选择打工兼职的方式，这样大家既能够赚钱，又可以和本地人进行交流，这样可以获取很好的资源，而且还不会浪费时间，是比较适合留学生的选择。

不过大家在选择目标工作的时候，一定要按照官方的规定和要求来，不要打黑工也不要超时工作，这些都会对你的留学产生不利的影响。

My interest in Mathematics initially developed when I began to consider how a set of well-defined points on a plane could be described by a single equation. It was clear that a curve could be drawn through the set of points but, as my knowledge was limited in Year 10, I had to pursue my own research to learn how to deduce the equation of such a curve. Since then, I have come to appreciate how the many diverse topics in Maths are connected, such as the relationship between number theory and cryptography, as explained in Marcus du Sautoy’s ‘Music of the Primes’. I find the prospect of understanding such succinct theories, which can be applied in many industries, as well as forming new ones through extensive research, very exciting in today’s ever advancing society.

The topic to have engaged me the most at A-level has been differentiation. It is centred on the idea of limits, which relates directly to infinity and infinitesimals. I first read about Cantor’s continuum hypothesis in Clegg’s ‘A Brief History of Infinity’, and my understanding of infinity has evolved since then. The paradoxes associated with infinity and all the counter-intuitive arguments put forward about infinity motivate me to study infinity in detail, and I therefore look forward to the intriguing courses on analysis.

‘It may be very hard to define mathematical beauty, but that is just as true of beauty of any kind’ – Hardy in ‘A Mathematician’s Apology’. I agree with Hardy, for I feel that mathematical beauty is inexpressible and yet so common. However, I believe that Maths at school level has lost its beauty, as there is not enough emphasis on the proofs of theorems and the focus lies in the end result of a theorem instead. My opinion is that they are equally important, as one cannot exist without the other: you cannot classify something as a theorem unless it has a proof and you cannot have a proof unless it leads to a theorem. However, I have only come across beautiful Maths in proofs and I therefore look forward to the rigorous approach of being taught Maths at university level, which gives more importance to understanding. Currently, I find some stimulation in attending weekly extension Maths lessons, covering topics that go beyond the regular A-Level syllabus, such as Euclid’s algorithm, the Fibonacci sequence, the continuum hypothesis and proof by induction.

Maths has been a vital tool in innumerable disciplines, such as programming, medical imaging and code breaking, for thousands of years. I attended a lecture on ‘How Mathematics Drives Computing’ at Imperial College, where a lecturer explained how he was able to contribute significantly to airline scheduling via his PhD research work. Such constant evolution and innovation in Maths, with its potential as an instrument of solving problems and progressing society, attracts me greatly. In my spare time, I write Internet articles frequently on programming techniques, such as image scaling and collision detection, to which over 50 people are subscribed. Moreover, I have received a prize for a project I developed myself.

I am a School Prefect, which has enhanced my leadership skills. I participate in inter-school hockey matches as part of our School’s team, and I have practised the art of Taekwondo since I was ten years old. I find Bridge interesting and have represented my School in various competitions. I have also been playing the drums for four years. Furthermore, I attend the J S Mill Society, where issues of politics and economics are discussed.

When I applied for college, I took Psychology simply because I was curious, but now, it enthrals me; studying the different theories put forward as to why we do certain things, or why we don't; delving into the minds of the depressed, the murderous or the deranged and generally trying to explain the things we do unconsciously, like conform. All these things are just a sample of what captivates me with Psychology, as well as reading the articles in 'Psychology Review', which I subscribed for this year.

Along with Psychology, I wish to study Philosophy, which has fascinated me since my first lesson. I've always been criticised for looking too deeply into things rather then just accepting them, but Philosophy showed me that I'm not the first, and certainly won't be the last, to do so. It is a lesson that's different from the rest in that it teaches you how to think, not what to think. It gives you ideas of why we are here, or what brought us here. It spans several key areas including Theology, Politics and Biology. So, by studying one subject, other subjects are dealt with. It's unique and severely underestimated. It's a difficult subject, but one that allows your own personality to have access.

This is why I think I'm a good applicant. I know I'm hardworking, and I'm definitely dedicated to this course. Moreover, there were numerous times during school where I was asked to help during certain activities, such as showing people around on open days or making speeches on awards evenings, therefore proving that I am responsible and reliable. This was fun and entertaining, and also involved great personal discipline and commitment to ensure it worked properly.

Although individual work like this is almost second nature, I find teamwork to be a strongpoint, due to my part-time job at a hotel. This involves a great deal of cooperation, otherwise it would be impossible to do the job properly. Every person has a part to play, and if they didn't do their job, the rest of the circle would fall apart. The same applies in any team. Everyone needs to be involved and work properly for the rest of the team to advance. This became obvious when participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Although extremely fun and rewarding, this required intense teamwork during the walks and the other sections involved dedication and hard work. These attributes can help whilst studying for the course.

It is for these reasons that the Joint-Award interests me. With it, I want to take a career in Psychology. I want to help this discipline in some way, or at least to ensure that what we know already is used to benefit others. I want to learn a great deal of knowledge to be able to go into the world and use it to its full potential, either by helping expand our knowledge, use our awareness properly or, even, passing on the theories to new psychologists.

一、衣着

在法国，你可以买到你想买的任何东西，但是这里也不是所有的人都消费得起的，法国的奢侈品有很多，你要是想买还是等到打折的时候再来买吧，法国的衣服也不好买，因为这里的衣服尺码是比较大的，经常在法国买不到合身的衣服。法国的天气经常阴冷，外套自然是少不了的，出门的时候要穿保暖的衣服，在室内就不需要穿很厚的衣服，室内比较暖和。法国经常也下雨，伞是出门必带的，如果不喜欢带伞，带一个帽子也是很合适的。

二、饮食

吃饭这件事跟国内还是一样的，要么是在外面的餐厅吃，要么是自己做饭，也可以在食堂吃。法国的餐厅就没有便宜这么一说了，都是比较昂贵的餐厅，快餐还是有的，跟国内的价格也是差不多，但是快餐不要经常吃。自己在家做饭是花销最少的，平时只要是没课了就可以去超市逛逛有没有新鲜的蔬菜水果，法国的肉类也是比较丰富的，法国的超市到了周天的时候是不营业的，你要是买东西的话不要在周天去买。在食堂吃饭是一个价钱不贵又健康的方式，食堂的饭菜虽然没有外面的那么好吃，但是还是比较有营养的。

三、住宿

在法国找房子还是一件比较头疼的事情，要找一间价格合适、交通便利的房子很困难，先不说价格，安全对于在外面租房子的外来学生来说是最重要的，然后你再考虑你是要单独租房子住还是合租，单独住的成本肯定是很高的，但是一般学生都会有住房补贴。一些私立学校的学生是可以拿到一半的住房补贴的。

四、出行

法国的交通还是比较便利的，每个城市的交通都很发达，出行坐电车会比较多，学生如果经常坐电车的话是可以办一张月卡的，学生每个月的费用只要23欧元，你在办卡之后的一个月内可以坐无数次车。除了电车之外还有地铁和火车，他们都会有相应的票价，学生可以有不同的优惠价坐车。

一、材料方面

第一步：预约

网上预约是免费的,一般可以约到比较近的(比如下周或者下个月).电话预约似乎约到比较晚的(比如两个月后).

一般签证当天可以拿到(早去的话可能等一两个小时,晚去的话可能等三到六个小时).第一次去我就选了比较晚的时间,结果等待的那几个小时无比的煎熬和痛苦.后来几次去都选比较早的时间了。

第二步：准备材料

需要的东西包括：护照、申请表、学生证明信(或者工作证明信)、两张照片、银行帐单、飞机票、旅馆订单(或邀请人开的官方的接待证明)，旅游保险。

旅游保险可以用google上找,我见过的有20欧一年的。买一年比买几天的能拿到更长的签证--见过有些人只买了四天的保险,结果他们就拿到四天的签证.如果保险是一年的话,一般学生身份拿到的是两三个月的有效期内可以呆30天的那种(我知道的人和我办的情况都这样).有工作的人有不少拿到六个月内呆90天的。

至于官方的接待证明,是由在法国生活的人在当地的市政厅开。有的市政厅收30欧，有的收45欧，而且邀请人要准备一些材料挺麻烦的。如果只是在法国玩几天，不建议让朋友办这个--自己订那种可以免费退掉的旅馆省事多了。

第三步：签证当天

所有材料都要复印件--使馆会保留复印件退还原件(有些人因为缺复印件而被拒掉了).

早点到门外排队--同一个时间段的人不少,早点到那排队就能早点出来.如果预约最早的那个时间,一般提前一个小时到那排队的话都会是最前面几个.

带些吃喝玩的东西--那里面也有自动售货机,但可选择的不多.如果等待时间长的话,没有玩的东西会比较无聊。
